HRBT striper and york river

In the last week I haven't had the best of luck. Thursday night I decided to try to get some points for kayak wars by catching striper at the HRBT. It was a very slow night but i did manage to catch 15-20 striper. Only 6 of the striper were big enough for points, but at least I got some. I was so determined to get points I decided to stay out late... really late. I watch the sunrise then fished for another hour. The night ended with 15-20 striper up to 27", 2 small flounder, and a couple croaker. The drive home was rough, but I survived (though i don't remember most of it)

Yesterday I was hoping to catch some sheepshead or tautog in the york river but it was a disappointing day with only 2 croaker and one oystertoad. No pictures. Blah!

I WILL catch a sheepshead in the york one day!

1st ever black drum!

Last Wednesday night/Thursday morning I fished with Miles in the york river to search for black drum. A buddy of mine heard reports of them so I had to give it a try. I launched at about 10pm and got distracted by the striper at various dock lights. After about 7-8 striper I started paddling to the "drum spot". I only fished for about 10 mins before hooking up on my first ever black drum. I caught it using cut blue crab on a fish-finder rig. It was 27" and probably around 12lbs I guess. Nothing huge as far as black drum go but it was a nice fight on my Release reel. The total for the night was about 15 striper up to 24", 2 croaker, 1 dink flounder I caught while unhooking the 24" striper, and 1 27" black drum. Miles ended up with a few striper. Not a bad night. Work the next day was a little rough because I didn't get to sleep til about 5:30am, but it was well worth it.

In the past two weeks I've done a little bit of bass fishing at Beaverdam reservoir. I only had a couple hours after work but i made the best of it with several bass per day and a couple nice pickerel.

Also Lately when I really need to fish but have no time at all I just go to a creek about a mile down the road and fish for these pretty little guys.
